They were sent to Mimban to quell a rebellion that had formed made up of the Mimbanese that inhabited the planet after the Galactic Empire sought to pacify the planet which began the Mimban Campaign sometime during or before 10 BBY. After the Clone Wars and the declaration of the Galactic Empire, the division was made to be the 224th Imperial Armored Division. In 22 BBY, a detachment of the unit known as the Mud Jumpers fought in the Battle of Mimban.

Their armor was tinted green to allow for camouflage in forested wetlands. They are identifiable by their upgraded, green armor that allowed for easier operations in humid and poisonous environments.
Trained to operate for extended periods in marshy environments, these specialized soldiers were deployed to dense, swamp theaters and similar environmental theaters such as lakes, rivers, and other waterways where settlements clustered on habitable planets.
